a 100 Mile Walk (About 161 kilometres) in and around the New Forest in southern England within 72 hours from June 19th to June 22nd, 2015. This 100 mile walk will consist of a walk from Ashurst, New Forest, in southern England to Bournemouth then back to Ashurst and in addition a walk from Ashurst to the Canadian War Memorial in Bolderwood via Burley, then returning to Ashurst. PLEASE NOTE: WHEN YOU SPONSOR ME YOU SHOULD GET A CONFIRMATION SCREEN THAT ALL IS PROCESSED. IF THIS DOES NOT APPEAR THEN YOUR GIFT HAS NOT BEEN PROCESSED AND YOU MAY NEED TO TRY AGAIN. PLEASE CONTACT CHILDAID AT info@childaidrr.org.uk IF THIS OCCURS. THANK YOU The purpose of this 100 Mile Walk is to raise urgently needed funds for 2 excellent charities currently giving aid in major conflict areas. It is to raise funds for ChildAid - for their work in Eastern Ukraine aiding the many victims of the ongoing conflict there – and also for the Assyrian Aid Society in Iraq, helping Christians in Iraq, hundreds of thousands of whom have been driven from their homes by ISIS and other Islamic extremists. Iraq’s Christian community has been one of the groups suffering the brunt of ISIS’ barbaric and Genocidal atrocities, including massacres, beheadings, kidnappings and forced conversions to Islam. The funds raised by my 100 mile walk will be split equally between ChildAid and the Assyrian Aid Society in Iraq. You can help to alleviate some of the intense and extensive suffering caused by the terrible conflicts in Ukraine and Iraq by giving to this charity walk and encouraging your friends to do likewise. Please share this page and this link to it: http://www.mycharitypage.com/wilfred with your friends and urge them to help needy people in Ukraine and the longsuffering Christians of Iraq by giving towards my 100 Mile walk. Russian forces annexed Crimea in the Ukraine and a subsequent referendum seemed to suggest that such annexation would henceforth receive popular support. Pro-Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine want further Russian intervention by military or any other means. The Secretary General of NATO, Mr Anders Fogh Rasmussen, has suggested that the situation in Ukraine may be the most severe the organisation has had to face since the end of the Second World War and certainly since the end of the Cold War. The pro-Russian fighters have also been targeting Christians for persecution, including destroying churches and kidnapping church leaders. The United Nations has reported that since the conflict in Ukraine started over 4,800 people have been killed and almost one million have been displaced from their homes. The fighting has caused heating, electricity and food shortages to become very severe. In response to the violence in Eastern Ukraine ChildAid has set up their EUREKA (Eastern Ukraine Relief & Emergency Kids Aid) Appeal which helps children and families affected by the conflict and shows them that they are not forgotten. There is a so-called “no man’s land” of areas in Eastern Ukraine no longer held by rebel separatists but not fully under the control of the Ukrainian Government either. Often these areas are regularly bombed by both sides. A huge displacement of the population has occurred here. The only support which families in these areas receive is from aid volunteers who risk their lives to travel into the region. ChildAid is assisting some of these very courageous aid volunteers to reach those who are isolated and in desperate need. Not since the time of the Soviet Union has such extensive violence, bloodshed and anti-Christian persecution occurred in the Ukraine.
